Cover Story

Hello, dear readers

And welcome to what promises to be a relatively busy week in a relatively busy month.

March is always a busy one, to be fair. There are certain milestones within it, certain immovable feasts (plus one that’s strangely fluid, thanks to relying on religious dating). This year that is something that has been expanded upon by circumstance.

I’ll explain.

March On

March opens with my parent’s wedding anniversary on the 2nd.Then comes my mums birthday (the 19th), my niece, Holly’s birthday (the 24th,), Sarah, my step-daughter’s birthday (the 25th - see, I do know), and of course Mother’s day which, due to the magic of Lent, this year fell on the 15th.

It all adds up to a test of both the memory and the wallet, and most of it is still to come.

Not that any of it is entirely unexpected.

However, this year, there’s also the thorny issue of my much needed new wheelchair which I have finally received the ‘priority’ appointment to be appraised for. This will take place tomorrow morning, and will probably result in me getting the exact same make and model unless something with slightly more serviceable front castors has appeared on the market.

Driving Force
How long this will take from tomorrow’s ‘fitting’ to actually picking up the wheels themselves is anyone’s guess. They have just over five months until my super-spouse, Tina and I pop off on our jollies, though (as long as World War 3 stops being a factor). Hopefully, wheelchair will make three.

There was also a second appointment in the next couple of days. One for Tina to check in with the Ophthalmology department of Pontefract Hospital to check on the efficacy of the laser surgery she had on her eyes a few weeks back. This has been postponed, though, mainly due to Tina working and a surfeit of driving over a couple of days being no good whatsoever for yours truly.

And then, of course, there’s ‘the book’.

Art Attack
For those not in the know, this is the Urban Fantasy novel I plan to self-publish in the next couple of weeks (the first of the month would have been ideal if it hadn’t been April’s fools day).

The current sticking point with that is the cover art, something I need to do myself if I’m to publish over multiple outlets.

I’ve reached out to some self-publishing contacts and got some useful advice and contacts. I’ve also been directed to Canva for a play around with the free images available there. So far I have come up with two versions I don’t hate too intently. Namely…

And…

Over To You
So, basically, that’s with or without the young woman who represents my main character (the imprecise cropping won't be featured in either version). I’m going back and forth on which is the most impactful and would love some feedback on which option to use (if any).

Until next time!
