And so ends my first week as a (self) published author.
Yes, after the initial rush of endorphins caused by last Monday’s (that’s the Monday of last week, or the 4th, not the one just gone, to avoid any confusion) momentous moment, life has settled down somewhat.
Plug & Play
A total of twenty books have been sold so far, the bulk of those to family and friends, with another two at least being read on Kindle Unlimited which my book, The Heart That Died, is available through as well as being up for sale on Amazon as both newly formatted E-book and paperback (plug, plug, plug).
Now I’m not going to let this blog devolve into some kind of mindless advertising platform, at least not in the long term.
I’m not going to use what has always been a very personal window into my life as a disabled person become some kind of subliminal mouthpiece to get readers to BUY MY BOOK (well, maybe. Just a bit). I might not even mention that, after I finish up here, I’ll be spending some time on my next book, which will be a follow up to The Heart That Died.
I’ll try to do something in the next few weeks to add a little variety to these poor scribblings. I’ll read a book, maybe go out, spend some time talking about the new and incredibly bitey kitten. Who knows, I might even get some news on the new wheelchair I ordered back in February to share, but that could be just a touch unrealistic.
Dashboard Lights
Until then, though, I’m still going to be consulting the KDP dashboard on a daily basis or more and the little world I created with its goblins, ghouls, vampires and noir-tinged 1930s streetlights will still be forefront in my diseased mind. So you may be lucky(?) enough to get a slice of that action too.
Oh, and, just in case I failed to mention it, don’t forget my debut novel, The Heart That Died, is available now as both paperback, E-book, and on Kindle Unlimited.
I’m sorry. I couldn’t resist.
Until next time!
Hey, there! If you enjoyed reading any of the above, why not take a look at some of my published work? Below you’ll find links to a number of short stories I’m lucky enough to have included in anthologies. I’d love to know what you think. My debut novel, The Heart That Died, is available now as both paperback, E-book, and on Kindle Unlimited, so I’m adding the link to that, too.
Oh, and if you like what you look-see, a nice, positive review would also be most welcome.
The Heart That Died
New Tales Of Old
Death Ship
Pestilence: Drabbles 1
Reaperman: Drabbles 3
The Musketeers Vs Cthulhu
Eldritch Investigations
The New Normal
No, soon enough things will return to normal and you’ll be able to read all about my latest frustrations with Wheelchair Services, the NHS, DWP, and all the other meaningful minutiae that goes along with being a long term wheelchair user, sufferer of MS and all round drain on the public purse.
But, for now, while the first flush of authorial glory and the sheer fact that I’ve actually done ‘the thing’ and made something of my writing—a whole £40 so far. (this time next year, Rodders…well, I’ll probably still be skint)—persists, I’m afraid you’ve got something of a stuck record… and just wait until the reviews start coming in!
