The Streets Of London

Hello, dear reader!

Repetition.

Repetition, repetition, repetition.

It’s something I’ve been accused of, every now and then. But, when it comes to this week’s offering, I know the subject matter is one I’ve not written about in well over a year, possibly nearer to two.

‘Cos once again, it’s London time, baby.

Inconvenience Store
Long term sufferers of this blog (and there’s probably tablets or some kind of cream available for an irritation like that), may well remember that London is where my rather lovely step-daughter, Sarah lives and once more the olds are going to descend on her in a flurry of embarrassment and inconvenience.

Not that it’s going to be quite the same.

No, last time we took the Megabus, which was all sorts of fun. This time we’re taking the national express (when we’re feeling depressed. It’ll make you smiiiiile.) Last time Sarah was in the suburbs. Sutton, to be precise, and now she lives in central London. Streatham to be precise.

Orinoco Flow
It means that, within the macrocosm of the big smoke, we will have a brand new microcosm to explore. Streatham is south (or should that be Saarf) of the river, an area we have yet to explore and Sarah informs us there’s plenty of nice walks (Read:- trundles) nearby. In fact the hotel we’ve booked is very near Wimbledon Common which puts a Womble hunt on the schedule.

Of course, as well as all this newness, we’ll take time to hit the old favourites. It wouldn’t be a Rankin trip to London without a visit to Westminster Cathedral and we will, no doubt, eat in one of the bazillion-and-one Itsus, Maccy D’s, and Pret A Mangers we’ve learned not to navigate by.

Still, it’s different air, and a different horizon and of course, more important than anything, it’s a nice chance to catch up with Sarah who we don’t see a huge amount of, face-to-face. True she came up for the grand joint 50th party last year, but we didn’t make it down there, and with the holiday to Turkey booked and paid for, this will be the only opportunity, both time and money wise, to do so.

All Change
Luckily, Sarah has managed to wangle a few days off work, so, with a bit of luck, some monopolisation (Monopoly? London? No?) will be on the cards.

So, no change but all change. The same trip, but a different destination, and, at the heart of it a girl who better not have changed tooooo much.

Oh, and before I forget next week’s blog will be the last before a one week hiatus. I’ll let you figure out why.

Until next time.
