It’s probably going to be a quick one today.
That is for two reasons. One., I seem to have lost the ability to type with any accuracy (what do you mean, what’s new?) and two, there’s not been an awful lot going on over the last week.
It leaves me with somewhat of a dearth of subjects to whitter on about, so, instead of taking the time to look back, I’m going to look into the future.
Trippin'
No, I’ve not developed any psychic powers. There will be no crystal ball or pack of tarot cards used in the writing of this blog post. No tea leaves will be consulted. No lots will be cast.
Instead, allow me to tell you of a loose plan for this year that myself and my wúnderwifey, Tina have cooked up. It’s nothing too grand, certainly not to the extent of last years joint 50th party, but it gives us something to work toward (Well, for Tina to work toward, anyway).
We’d like to go on holiday.
Health & Wealth
To put things in context, it has been seven years since we last had any break outside of this country. Health, mental health, and the impact both have had on our financial, um, health have meant that the funds and the opportunity have never coincided
But this year, as long as there’s no more expensive household problems (see the last few week’s blog posts for details) it could just be the right time.
The ‘plan’ is to revisit Turkey, Marmaris to be exact, which is the venue we visited just after my diagnosis relapse of MS. It was a trying time for both of us, but the break away, at a hotel called Club Atrium, gave us just the break we needed, and, seven years later, we’d like to experience that lovely slice of leisure again.
Ten Out Of Ten
So, hopefully within the next month, we’re going to get the wheels in motion. I need a new passport, so that will be step one. A step I can do my bit for by the end of the week. Then it will be a trip to the travel agent to discuss options. We know exactly where we want to go (and I mean exactly) so the only questions remaining will be when, and for how long.
I’d quite like ten days away. It’s the perfect holiday length in my eyes. A week can feel too short, while two can drag just a touch. I also think we’ll forgo the evening meals this time around. The food at the hotel was good, but the choices were limited, and one thing Marmaris is not short of is places to eat. Yeah, bed & breakfast feels like the play. I might splash out on extra leg room on the plane, though.
Step Change
Last year’s party gave both me and Tina something to look forward to. It filled the year with excitement, anticipation, and gave us something to accomplish. I think having a holiday to look forward to, especially when the dates are agreed, will do the same. We’ll be counting down the weeks, buying clothes & new shades, working out exchange rates, begging rides to the airport, and all that other fun stuff. We’ll be reminiscing over our last visit, and working out what to do differently.
Even sitting here, on a not exactly warm February afternoon, I can feel the tingle of excitement at the prospect of a few days in the Mediterranean sun; of drinking (but not at the airport. Lesson learned there!), laying by the pool with a book, exploring the little cafés and shops around the bay.
Yeah, it certainly puts a metaphorical spring in my metaphorical step.
Until next time.
